SUST’s 5 Students Expelled for Ragging

Five students from Sylhet Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) have been expelled in various terms for ragging. All those expelled are said to be students of the Department of Business Administration.

SUST Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. Farid Uddin Ahmed informed the media on Wednesday (February 22) afternoon.

SUST VC told the media that after getting the preliminary facts, it has been decided to cancel the seat of the accused and temporarily expel them from the university. A five-member investigation committee has been formed in this incident. The committee has been asked to submit the investigation report within the next 7 working days. 

It is learned that the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration of the University Dr. Md. Khairul Islam, head professor of the department Dr. Mazharul Hasan Majumdar, Syed Mujtaba Ali Hall Provost Professor Dr. Abu Syed Arfin Khan Nobel, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall Provost Assistant Professor Moniruzzaman Khan, and Assistant Proctor Mizanur Rahman are in this investigation committee.

Noted that a few days ago there was an allegation that 10 to 13 students of the Department of Business Administration were called and ragged in room no. 111 of Syed Mujtaba Ali Hall of the university. A first-year student in the same department filed the complaint.
